Oil coolers are used in continuous operation of hydraulic systems to cool the hydraulic oil. However, oil coolers are primarily installed on systems that have been subsequently equipped with additional hydraulic consumers. In many cases, the tank contents are not increased during these conversion work and this increases the circulation and temperature of the oil in the hydraulic system. The optimal operating temperature of a hydraulic system is between 50-60C. If the temperature increases too much, the excess heat must be dissipated via an oil/air cooler.
In order to determine the size of the oil cooler, we need some data from you for the calculation:
- Gear pump or control pump
- Pump delivery rate in L/min
- Tank capacity in L (if known)
- Oil pressure in the hydraulic system in bar
- Ambient temperature in C
- Oil temperature of the hydraulic system in C
- Connection voltage in V
